Pinnacle Announces Addition of Three Consulting Actuaries

Bloomington, Ill. – Leading property and casualty consulting firm Pinnacle Actuarial Resources, Inc. (Pinnacle), today announced that Sara Chen, Nathan Dykstra and Juhyun Shin have joined the firm as consulting actuaries.

“I am pleased to welcome this great new group of consultants to Pinnacle,” Managing Principal Roosevelt Mosley said. “They are all accomplished professionals and bring decades of actuarial experience to our firm. We are looking forward to adding their skills and knowledge to our already deep and talented consulting team.”

Chen most recently served as an actuary for a major insurance company. She was the reserving lead for the company’s business owners program, including managing substantial IBNR for the line of business. Chen was also responsible for setting the monthly catastrophe reserve estimates for the company’s commercial lines division. She is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and is currently the Chair of the Casualty Actuarial Society Microlearning Working Group. She has worked in the industry since 2017 and resides in Des Moines, Iowa.

Shin has held increasingly responsible positions at large insurers providing coverage for commercial lines. Most recently, he served as an actuary for an insurer’s commercial umbrella program, determining rates and conducting general liability rate indications. In prior roles, Shin has had experience with managing general underwriters and agencies as a business analyst and underwriter. He is an FCAS, an MAAA and has worked in the insurance industry since 2014. He is located in Seattle.

Dykstra has worked in the insurance industry since 2012. He joins Pinnacle from a national automobile insurer where he was a supervising assistant actuary responsible for regional personal automobile and homeowners’ products, rate revisions and special project implementations. He has extensive rating experience and has supervised the implementation of new rating plans for homeowners’ and automotive policies in the State of Florida. Dykstra is located in Lansing, Michigan, and is also an ACAS.
